Safety in sauna
About Sauna Use
In Finland, sauna is an everyday part of life. People of all ages enjoy the sauna regularly, often daily, by relaxing in the heat and pouring water onto the hot stones of the stove to create steam (“löyly”). Sauna is not an extreme experience here — it is a normal, calming and culturally embedded tradition.
When used with basic common sense and awareness, sauna bathing is safe and highly beneficial. The most important safety rule is to listen to your body, be mindful of the heat, and behave respectfully and carefully inside the sauna. Sauna use does not require special skills — just calm presence and simple caution.
